▚ Calibration · Unlocking · Standalone
We read, unlock and calibrate modern engine control units — from Bosch MEDC17 to MoTeC standalone — including the security-locked platforms most shops turn away.
Named for the Vought F7U Cutlass — the aircraft that ran the systems everyone said couldn't be flown. We take the same approach to locked ECUs.
▚ Capabilities
Every build starts in the calibration, not the catalogue. We work at the binary level so the tune fits the engine — not a generic map pulled off a shelf.
Full-map calibration on stock and modified engines — fueling, ignition, boost, torque management and drivability, dialed in on the dyno and validated with data.
Full read/write access on security-locked units most shops can't touch — including the Honda FL5 and Acura DE5 — with checksum correction and factory write-protection bypass.
View service →Standalone install, wiring integration and base-map development on MoTeC and other engine-management systems for race and high-power applications.
Bolt-on, big-turbo and built-motor calibration packages matched to your hardware, with staged maps and safe part-throttle behaviour.
Load-bearing dyno tuning and road datalog analysis — knock, lambda, IAT and torque tracking so every change is measured, not guessed.
ECU cloning, recovery of bricked or corrupted units, immobiliser and coding work, and diagnosis of faults other shops can't clear.
▚ Platforms
Deep experience across Bosch, Denso, Hitachi and standalone hardware. Locked next-gen platforms like the Honda FL5 and Acura DE5 are handled through our jailbreak & unlock service →
▚ How it works
Vehicle assessment, hardware review and goals — daily, track or full race.
Original file backed up via OBD or bench. Locked units unlocked first.
Map development against your hardware, with checksum-correct write-back.
Dyno and road datalogging to confirm power, safety margins and drivability.
Revisions, staged upgrades and ongoing calibration as the build evolves.
▚ Est. 2020 · Richmond Hill
F7U started in 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 shutdown. With the tracks closed and the shops quiet, a group of motorsport people — each deep in a different corner of racing, from chassis and forced induction to data and driver development — ended up in the same garage with time on their hands and questions nobody was answering.
What held the group together was ECU tuning and calibration. We spent that year at the bench: pulling firmware apart, mapping the tables the factory hides, and figuring out the security on control units other tuners had written off. What began as a lockdown obsession turned into the thing we're now known for.
Today F7U Race Technologies is a calibration and motorsport engineering shop working at the binary level — from custom tuning and standalone builds to unlocking security-locked ECUs, checksum correction and bricked-unit recovery. Based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, serving street, track and race clients across the GTA and beyond.
